About Diane
Diane Spencer-Scarr uses a second order cybernetic approach to develop an understanding of the complex relationship between human and digital networked technology, which she refers to as digital-engagement. Digital-engagement explores the relationship between the individual (particularly personality and decision-making) and digital networked technologies in order to understand why some individuals successfully manage their digital-engagement and others are disadvantaged.
Starting her career from an artistic and educational background Diane moved into IT becoming a partner in a consulting business involved in various aspects of information technology including scoping and implementing information technology projects and liaising between stakeholders to deliver IT solutions. Diane’s cyber entrepreneurial activities led to the launch of a number of online businesses. Diane has served as an editor for academic journals, authored academic papers, contributed book chapters, and is an accomplished speaker and workshop facilitator.
Mensa NSW supported Diane’s research into improving organization participation through the utilization of technology to enhance face-to-face interactions between participants. Preliminary results were reported at the Mensa International conferences in the USA and Europe (2013).
